You’re interested to be more in control of your energy costs and want to include green solutions in your renovation plan. We can help you think through the alternatives. It starts with you being clear on your green objective – energy conservation? healthy living? Going green on your project can be simple or complex, cost neutral or costly. But also consider that some of the more seemingly costly options may have still have a payback in energy savings over the long term. We can also discuss with you which green solutions would integrate easily into the renovation planning. Some solutions will require more work and planning which need to be factored into project planning and budgeting.

Here’s an example:

Wool fibre vs synthetic fibre – are there trade offs to consider?  Definitely!  Wool is easy to integrate into the planning and there are health benefits to installing wool over synthetics. But wool is generally higher cost than synthetic.  And what about the environmental cost of manufacturing the synthetic carpet?  For the energy conscious consumer, there is more energy consumed in the manufacturing the synthetic carpet.   There’s more to the decision than just cost.
