Green Construction Going green on your project can be simple or more complex depending on your objectives and budget. Some options are cost neutral where other options cost more and have a longer pay back period in energy savings. Some technologies integrate easily into the plan where others require more work and planning. In general, Green building technologies and materials fall into two categories: Energy Conservation Healthy Living The following two examples have benefits in both categories. Wool fibre carpet versus synthetic fibre. This is easier to integrate but generally higher cost than synthetics. There is less energy consumed in manufacture and there are health benefits over synthetic fibres.

HRV system that provides you and your family with fresh air throughout your home 24 hours per day. The HRV is a complex system that needs planning. Home owners love the fresh air and enjoy the health benefits of the elimination of home based toxins. The HRV saves heating and cooling costs because it balances the air pressure within the home and it removes moisture from the air. I usually combine the HRV with a ceiling radiant heating system.
